Accommodation and camping FAQ

How many people do the rooms sleep?

Our spaces are flexible and can be setup in different ways. Our recommended maximum numbers are below:

  • Kentish Barn - 60 people on camp beds.
  • Conference Room - Space for up to 24 people on roll mats.
  • Stable rooms - 3 rooms each with space for up to 12 people on camp beds.
  • 4 and 8 person bunk rooms - Modern rooms with permanent beds sleeping 4 and 8 people respectively.

What camping options do you provide?

We offer both:

  • Traditional camping where you bring your own tents and equipment with space across our 30+ acres.
  • Easy camping in our tented village, available from April to September.

How many campers can the tented village accommodate?

We have 4 tented villages. Each village has 10 bell tents holding up to 6 camper. Across the 4 villages we have capacity for 240 campers.

If using the tented village, what do we need to bring?

The tents will be ready for your arrival. Your young people will need to bring their normal sleeping kit (sleeping bags etc).

Depending on your requirements, you can also hire a mess tent marquee or our catering kitchen.

Are campfires allowed on site?

Absolutely. We have a dedicated Campfire Circle which is free to use (subject to other users on site). For cooking at your campsite, we provide Alter Fires free of charge to protect the ground.

Do we need to submit a Nights Away Notification (NAN) / Residential Event Notification (REN)?

Yes. As with any Scout or Guide event, you are responsible for submitting the relevant paperwork prior to the event. Lower Grange Farm staff provide activity instruction but are not responsible for overnight supervision.
